WEGO Health Activist Writers Challenge Day 4 Activism, speak for yourself!

Today we are creating a resources page for those newly diagnosed. I already have a link at the top of my blog with a list of those that I have found to be the most helpful to me. I don't know if that counts, so I will list a few of them here as well.

Next comes advocating for yourself, I mean really if you don't do it who will? Go into it with a good attitude, be willing to learn all you can from the proper resources. When you go to your doctors make sure you are being listened to. Follow their orders, (blood tests, medication.) If you don't feel like your doctor is a good fit, find a new one. I had one, when I asked for a referral tell me I didn't need one, he knew what he was doing. I went, he didn't know what he was doing.

Here's  few of the sites I have found helpful to me, and a couple to help you self advocate. Click on the links on my page for more.

  1. I definitely agree with the importance of learning how to become your own advocate when living with illness! If I had to share only one piece of advice for someone who is newly diagnosed it would be to trust your gut!

    1. That is great advice! So many times we are told there is nothing wrong, when we know there is. I 100% agree with you! Thanks for adding your comment. I will go read your site in the morning, I'm wiped out and want to read it when I'm able to fully read your story. Have a great evening!

Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate all of your comments. I try to answer all of them. Sometimes life takes over and I can't get to it right away. Please don't be offended. I would love for you to leave your blog address or social media links so I can follow you or contact you. Thanks again for taking the time to be a part of my life, you are awesome!
