I need some advice from all of you!

I will be the first to admit I'm stuck in a rut, I have been wearing the same "style" of hair for as long as I can remember. My illness is progressing and it's getting harder to take care of and the Lupus, RA, or Sjogren's is starting to make it fall out a little bit. Since so many of you that I follow have great style. I would like your suggestions on what cut you think would look the best on me. I really don't like short hair on me, but I'm willing to listen to all style and color suggestions. I'm thinking of adding posts with pictures of my clothes to get tips on putting outfits together, my style consists of jeans and whatever shirt I throw on. If I'm home it's pj's until I have to go out otherwise I'm not comfortable due to the joint pain etc.

Thank you for your help!

Here is my hair over the years.

  1. Maybe something chin length so you can still have some length just not as long as now. I hope some real fashionistas have some ideas for you.

    1. I like your idea, if I'm not feeling too brave I will probably start there. Thanks!

  2. Bite the bullet and go for s pixie crop. Go for a side fringe rather than the full one you've got in the pictures. If that scares you too much go for a concaved bob. Short at the back but keeping the length at the front with a side fringe. (A la Victoria Beckham) I like the colour of your hair so I say stick with that.

    1. I think I will stick with the color too, I'm still debating the length. I do appreciate all of your though on it though! thanks so much!

  3. I like the style you have now but I'm guessing it requires a straightening iron for the bangs and curlers or something for the sides? That seems like a lot of work for someone in pain. Is your hair naturally curly or naturally straight? I'd say work with whichever comes most easily for your hair. I think your face would suit a pixie cut so agree with Stefi but just what type would depend on the level of curl in your hair.

As for style... funny you should mention that, as my blog is all about chronic pain and style, which I gather you know, since you've begun following my blog. One has to get creative, I think. Style is for everyone, not just the young, slim, and able-bodied.

    1. My hair is straight, but really fine and hard to deal with. I have to blowdry and curl to get it to do anything. With my health worsening I don't want/need to be dealing with things like that. I know you understand that.

Your blog yes, you have amazing photos on there, and you have great style! I think I can learn a few things from reading your blog.

    2. I think your pixie-like face would really suit a shorter, pixie cut then. All you'd have to do would be towel dry, put in a little product, and scrunch it up. Think a younger Mia Farrow, but scrunchier (as that will give body). You look a bit like her.

Thanks for the compliments. Dressing up has helped a lot with the depression that comes with chronic pain. I feel beautiful again! Plus, I'm a born writer so writing again is good for me too.

  4. I had been trying to grow my hair out, but was finding it way too difficult to style on a regular basis because of the RA and fibro. Plus I was losing a good deal of my hair due to methotrexate, so I bit the bullet and got a pixie cut about 3 months ago. I love it - it takes me less than 5 minutes to blow dry it after I've washed it and that's all I need to do to style it.
There are some websites that you can use to "try on" hairstyles. You can upload a pic of yourself with your hair pulled all the way back and then you pick different hair styles and you can see how you will look with different cuts & colors. I'm sure you'll look good no matter what you go with!!

    1. That's my issue now too, and my arms don't want to cooperate with me. Sorry you're dealing with RA and fibro, I had the same issue with Methotrexate when I took it. I think it's the Lupus now, I'm waiting/hoping to start Humira who knows what that will do. I love the way your hair looks btw and thanks for the suggestions on those websites. I will check them out. I hope you're having a good week!

  5. I would suggest the same as Cheryl did. Your face shape for sure will look great with pixie hair style. Since you have the same style through the year, it's great to have a little change. I wish I could do a makeup over for you >.<.

    1. It sure would be nice to change a little. It seems almost everyone is suggesting a pixie cut. I'm going to try it out on a website and see what it would look like and go from there. I would love if you could do my makeup, I think the drive would be a bit far though :)
